Off-Highway Research is a management consultancy specialising in the research and analysis of international construction, and agricultural equipment markets, and is the largest of its kind in the world. The consultancy was formed in 1981 as part of The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) and is now privately owned.
Off-Highway Research offers a unique level of international research expertise to the construction, earthmoving, mining, industrial and agricultural equipment industries. This specialist capability, offered by offices in the UK, China, India, the USA and Japan is available through a combination of Subscription Services and Private Client Research. The company is staffed by industry specialists with a wide range of industry, language and consultancy skills, and is supported by a unique database of information.
Over the last five years, Off-Highway Research has worked for over 600 clients in 37 countries.

Each of these regional services offer: Market Reports, Equipment Analyses, Company Profiles, Country Analyses and additional specialist services. The services are available on an annual subscription basis, providing subscribers with detailed analyses of equipment markets and the major manufacturers of equipment or on an individual report basis.
Regional Database Services
Available through Off-Highway Research's Internet Access Service, the International (North America, Europe and Japan), Chinese and Indian Database Services provide unique statistical analysis of the regions’ construction equipment markets, and through a customised computer programme allows clients to manipulate data in Excel according to their needs. The Service offers include; Sales: by Company and Product, Production: by Company and Product, and Forecast Sales: by Product.
The Volume and Value and PLUS Service
Off-Highway Research’s Global Volume & Value Service is a powerful market-sizing tool, covering 16 products and 19 major countries, plus the rest of the world. It provides annual sales data by product, by country in both unit (volume) and US$ (value) terms. The premium Global Volume & Value Service PLUS breaks data down further, with sales volumes and values given by up to six weight/size classes per product type in each of the 19 individual countries covered. This provides 524 data points per year, compared to 224 in the standard Service. Such a rich pool of information is of particular interest to clients who require a deeper and more detailed knowledge of international markets.
Both the Global Volume & Value Service and Global Volume & Value Service PLUS are now accessed via Off-Highway Research’s on-line and PC download databases, for seamless integration with our other Database Services. Our intuitive database package allows clients to quickly and simply build searches. These functions make market analysis fast and efficient, and allow different scenarios to be easily modelled. Data is updated and forecasts refined at least twice per year, giving subscribers access to the latest market intelligence and outlook.
Several times a year Off-Highway Research publishes in-depth studies which cover topics outside those covered in other Subscription Services. These Special Reports are based on lengthy periods of field research and are generally regarded as being the most comprehensive and wide-ranging on the subject under review. The studies cover many major geographical markets across the globe and most equipment types in each of those markets. Coverage includes; Market Size and Trends, Market Shares, Domestic Production, Component Sourcing, Distribution, Forecasts, Manufacturer Profiles and Distributor Profiles
Private Client Research
Many clients need to address a problem which is outside the scope of one of the Services outlined earlier, and turn to the specialist skills of Off-Highway Research on a private and confidential basis. Examples include; Market research and analysis, Market feasibility studies, End-user surveys, Technological and market forecasts, Planning and marketing strategy studies, Diversification and acquisition studies, and Financial studies.
