Construction equipment sales in Sweden exceeded 5,000 units for the first time  in 2017, and sales stayed above this milestone level for the next two years. Despite the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic this year, a new Country Analysis from Off-Highway Research, The construction equipment industry in Sweden, forecasts that sales will remain just below 5,000 machines per year for the next five years.

“Massive infrastructure investment and a strong economy, along with high levels of housing demand, have inspired sustained high demand for almost all types of construction machinery,” said the report.

The combination of a cyclical decline and the impacts of Covid-19 are expected to see sales fall 13 per cent in 2020 – a relatively mild decline compared to most other countries in Europe and indeed around the world.

At 124 pages, Off-Highway Research’s new report is believed to be the most extensive and detailed ever published on the construction equipment industry in Sweden. It includes analysis of both sales and production of equipment across 14 major categories, along side profiles of the country’s major construction equipment producers and distributors.
