Slow recovery for paver sales in France

By Chris Sleight |  25 February 2021

After unusually high sales in 2018 and 2019, the asphalt finisher market in France has been subdued by the double hit of a cyclical downturn as well as the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Although sales this year may remain relatively low, the medium term outlook is for a return to growth.

“The market for asphalt finishers has been in decline since 2019 when it fell by 11.5 per cent due to weaker replacement cycles, followed by another fall of 17.5 per cent in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For 2021 there is the expectation of a further decline of just by 5.5 per cent, while 2022 the market should return to growth of over 10 per cent,” said Off-Highway Research’s new equipment analysis on the French asphalt finisher industry.
