Indian wheeled loader sales to rise

By Chris Sleight |  16 June 2021

The wheeled loader is something of a niche machine in India, due to the prevalence and popularity of backhoe loaders. However, there is relatively steady demand for these machines, with sales ranging from just above 2,000 to almost 4,000 units per year, according to Off-Highway Research’s new equipment analysis on the industry. Around three quarters of these are sold into mining and quarrying applications.

Although India’s on-going battle with the Covid pandemic raises some uncertainty, demand for wheeled loaders is expected to rise in the coming years.

“The simple truth is that there is a massive amount of work yet to be done in the infrastructure sector, and this will call for large volumes of equipment to complete it. How large those volumes will be is totally dependent on government’s effectiveness in facilitating project execution and addressing the key impediments,” said the study.
