Off-Highway Research's new Multi-Client Study, the Global Hydraulic Excavator Industry, is now available to buy. At almost 400 pages, with 233 tables, it is believed to be the most in-depth and authoritative study every published on this global sector.

Worldwide crawler, mini and wheeled excavator sales hit a low last year, but this still saw more than 370,000 machines sold, with a retail value of nearly US$36 billion. This year will see a steep 24 per cent jump in sales, thanks to the strength of key Asian markets. Growth in the following four years will be more measured, but the market is expected to reach more than 500,000 units per year by 2021, with a value of nearly US$49 billion in today’s terms.

The report features a global summary, looking at historic sales, sales by weight class, market shares, production by manufacturer and country, trade flows, machine populations, end-user groups and providing a five-year forecast. Subsequent sections look in depth at the key markets of China, Europe, India, Japan and North America and there is also a summary of rest of the world markets, outside these areas.
