Chinese powered access study

By Off-Highway Research |  6 February 2017

Off-Highway Research will launch a study this year on the Chinese powered access industry. The report is due for publication in the third quarter of the year and will look in detail at this high-growth sector, focussing on electric and diesel scissor lifts, and telescopic and articulating boom lifts.

Recent years have seen huge growth in the sales of access platforms in China as safety practices for working at height have improved and a Chinese rental industry has emerged as a supplier of platforms to contractors. In parallel with this, major international powered access equipment manufacturers including Genie (Terex), Haulotte and JLG have set up factories in China. These developments have been accompanied by the emergence of several Chinese powered access equipment makers.

Off-Highway Research’s report will look at the history of powered access in China, including the legislative drivers which have spurred the industry, along with relevant background information on the economy and construction industry. The report will analyse market size by platform type and size class and look at historic growth trends. It will also look at market shares and provide a five-year forecast.

Further sections will cover production volumes by manufacturer and identify suppliers of key components, and look at other market dynamics, such as retail pricing levels, marketing and distribution arrangements, customer groups and end-users, and the size of the current working fleet of platforms in China. The report will also include profiles on key manufacturers, dealers and rental companies in the powered access industry.
