Charting the rise of wheeled excavators in France

By Chris Sleight |  28 May 2020

The wheeled excavator market is the fourth largest volume equipment type in France, after mini excavators, telehandlers and crawler excavators, with 2,192 units sold last year and some 20 active suppliers.

Since 2009, when the French construction equipment market went into recession, wheeled excavator sales have seen an average annual growth rate of around 10 per cent. Whilst the volumes of the German market are twice that in France, the French wheeled excavator market performed better than that of Germany (CAGR 8.3 per cent) and that of the European region (CAGR of 7.6 per cent) as a whole.

Although the market this year will be impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, Off-Highway Research sees a good outlook for wheeled loader sales in France over the medium term.

The study on wheeled excavators represents an expansion of the range of studies being offered by Off-Highway Research. Previously a single report on hydraulic excavators was published, encompassing both wheeled and crawler machines. However, in order to provide more detailed analysis of the markets for both types of equipment, Off-Highway Research will now publish separate studies on crawler and wheeled machines. This change is also being rolled-out to our coverage of the German and UK markets.

The study looks at the structure and size of the market, market shares, production and production shares, component sourcing, pricing, end-user segments and provides a five-year forecast.

The report can also be bought as a stand-alone publication by non-subscribers. Click here for more details or contact [email protected] to enquire about a subscription.
