China Annual Review now available

By Caroline Watson |  2 April 2026

With a total of 220,095 units sold in 2025, the Chinese construction equipment market recovered strongly with annual growth of 11 per cent compared to 2024. However, this was still 55 per cent lower than the last sales peak in 2020, when total sales exceeded 497,000 units.

Production increased by 10 per cent to 486,575 units in 2025, which was still 26 per cent lower than the last peak in 2021. The enormous production capacity, especially of earthmoving products, remained the main driver for intensive competition in the domestic market, as well as in overseas markets.

This year marks the start of the 15th Five Year Plan (FYP) period, and despite the troubled property market, more positive developments in major infrastructure projects and ongoing investments in agriculture, water conservancy, and urbanisation are expected to enable further recovery of the industry.

Off-Highway Research expects the combined sales of all products in the Chinese construction equipment market to approach 240,000 units by the end of 2026, representing an annual growth of 9 per cent.

The Annual Review provides in-depth analysis and sales forecasts by equipment type, production, international perspective and projected forecasts up to 2030, and is essential reading for companies active in China, or those considering entering the market. The review is intended as a decision-making tool for manufacturers, distributors, rental companies, financial institutions, importers and all other stakeholders in the Chinese construction equipment sector.
