Rental companies account for more construction equipment purchases than any other type of customer in Europe. This study on equipment rental in Europe looks at sales trends to these customers, drawing on information from KHL Group’s specialist construction industry magazines International Rental News (IRN), Access International and International Cranes & Specialized Transport (ICST), besides its own data and research.
Rental companies in Europe bought more than 68,000 units of compact, earthmoving, and materials handling construction equipment last year. The total size of the rental fleet is close to 700,000 machines according to Off-Highway Research’s new report.
Despite a slowdown in equipment sales in Europe last year, analysis of data from IRN shows revenues for the largest rental companies grew 4.4 per cent. There was also fleet growth for the region’s largest owners of cranes, telehandlers and aerial work platforms (AWPs).
