New country analysis on Spain published

By Chris Sleight |  5 December 2019

Off-Highway Research has published a new 140-page analysis of the construction equipment industry in Spain. This includes a market overview, detailed analysis by product type and profiles of key equipment distributors and manufacturers. Like all Off-Highway Research reports and databases, it includes a five-year forecast.

Sales of construction equipment in Spain have recovered dramatically over the last five years, with volumes rising from the 1,905 machines sold in 2014 to 6,458 last year. Demand in 2019 is expected to reach 6,900 units with sales rising further in 2020 and 2021. However. Volumes will not return to the levels seen in the boom of the 2000s, which saw a peak of 21,050 units sold in 2007.

It is not only the size of the Spanish market which has changed. Demand has also shifted and this has opened up new opportunities. Mini excavators and telescopic handlers now account for a much higher proportion of demand than they did in the 2000s. Their growth has come at the expense of backhoe loaders and skid steer loaders to some extent, but these machines are still popular in Spain and the country is one of the largest European markets for both types.
