Video presentation on the global mobile crane industry

By Chris Sleight |  4 December 2025

The last three to four years have seen one of the most sudden and profound changes in the global mobile crane market’s history. The changes and their impacts are discussed in depth in this presentation given by Off-Highway Research managing director Chris Sleight during the 2025 World Crane & Transport Summit in Dublin.

Following the collapse of the Chinese market in the early 2020s, the total global market for all terrain, lattice boom crawler, rough terrain and truck cranes settled into a cyclical low in 2024. However, excluding China from the numbers paint a picture of a market which grew strongly throughout the early 2020s.

This dynamic reflects the fact that as the Chinese market sank, the country’s leading OEMs launched a concerted push on exports and found particular success in various emerging markets around the world. However, more developed crane markets in Europe, Japan and North America continue to be served by the traditional international OEMs.

This sea change in the competitive landscape represents a huge change for crane industry stakeholders. Click here to watch the video and find out more.
