North American construction equipment market decreased in 2025 OHR Annual Review reveals

After three consecutive years of post-pandemic sales increases, the size of the North American construction equipment market (which includes Mexico for the first time in this year’s annual review) reduced for the second year in a row, ending 2025 at around 1 per cent, or 2,500 units, lower than 12 months earlier.

Following the fall in sales during 2025, the North American construction equipment market is forecast to drop even further in 2026, although sales are then predicted to grow year-on-year to set a new high of more than 350,000 units in 2030.

Although the current outlook for the overall North American market is disappointing, Off-Highway Research believes that 2026 will be the start of the recovery in Canada with the country ending three consecutive years of falling sales. This sequence included a 4 per cent drop in the latest figures for 2025, after similar negative results in 2023 and 2024.

Overall, Off-Highway Research would characterize the outlook for Canada in the next five years as an ongoing recovery from the soft landing that the country experienced in 2025.

The Annual Review provides in-depth analysis and sales forecasts by country, equipment type, production, international perspective and projected forecasts up to 2030, and is essential reading for companies active in North America, or those considering entering the market. The review is intended as a decision-making tool for manufacturers, distributors, rental companies, financial institutions, importers and all other stakeholders in the North American construction equipment sector.
