Sales of hydraulic excavators in China increased by 16 per cent in the first half of 2026

The first quarter of 2026 saw a 16 per cent year-on-year increase in excavator sales in China, with a total of 25,900 units sold. Total demand this year is expected to grow by 8 per cent to 79,000 units, and peak at 100,000 units in 2029, when the China Stage V emissions standard (CSV) will be implemented. The prebuy activity is expected to cause an 8 per cent decline in 2030, but sales of electric excavators is expected to grow incrementally throughout the forecast period to 2030.
